The seat belt height adjuster by Autosafe was developed to prevent children from placing their arms over a seat belt. It makes the seat belt a more comfortable fit, thus preventing the belt from rubbing the neck. This innovation was put forward on the BBC 2 Television program, Dragon's Den.
If the seat belt rubs on the child’s neck, it will become uncomfortable. This sometimes encourages the child to place his/her arm over the seat belt.
The seat belt has now been inadvertently positioned so it has almost the life saving efficiency of a lap belt, thus leaving the cross part of the belt useless.
This would be very inadvisable as lap belts are proven to be ineffective in accidents. Lap belts are known to cause spinal and abdominal injuries.
The Autosafe height adjuster, when fitted will prevent the seat belt from rubbing on the child’s neck, perfectly aligning the seat belt into the correct position, thus making the journey ahead a safe and comfortable one.
